Started the new year starting a studio space.

Hey hey! It's 2016! What does that mean? Not a whole lot for me, as I always tend to look at it as just another year coming on in.

BUT!

It does herald the oncoming new show season which I am pretty stoked about, and am preparing for.

But unlike in years past, I have come to the point where I needed a base of operations, a lab-or-a-tory (say that in a Dexter's Lab voice), a studio to plan and create even better things out of!

So after getting some lumber from Lowe's and firing up a few saws, a nail gun and air compressor, I fumbled my way through youtube videos galore to attempt to stud frame in the skeleton of my studio.

I'm now in the "needing an electrician so I don't kill myself" part of the project, so a buddy of mine is going to do that part. And frankly, even if I did know how to do it, I've got artwork to still get to working on, but you see, Hallmark closes for like a week and a half over the Christmas/New Years so I don't know about you all, but I wanted to use that time to go all Handy Manny and build things, as opposed to initiating Netflix/Sleep Mode and sliding into a cheese pizza induced week long coma.

You can see above, the area I was working with, and how I was progressing around it, taping areas off for remembering stud counts, floor shape... it's been a good few days of effort doing this.
This ended up turning into an on the fly sort of tutorial, but more of a rambling session via video, and then I ended up doing some patron only posts that are outlining more images, tips, and costs of this studio build effort.

Here's the video that is available to the general public, but was first posted to my Patreon site.

So keeping this update brief, I'll be getting back to work now. I've got some new art to show in the next update! Till then, support your local artists, be kind to your fellow beings, and I'll see you next time! - Mario, the Artisan Rogue

    1. Thanks Sanity Lost, it took years and years to decide to do this, and I got lucky with a basement, but at one point, I had actually thought about leasing/renting space downtown where some of my other creative friends were. It's turning out that even with the time and cost, this will be a much more cost effective endeavor. That and no one will take me seriously in a commercial creative studio if I show up wearing plush kitty slippers.
